It's 92 degrees all over the country and the competition 
was hot.  The Edelbrock Pro series was at Martin, MI on
June 24th-25th and the NSCA was at Milan, MI on June
25th-26th.  This close proximity allowed racers the 
opportunity to compete at both events and Rob Golobo
stepped up to the plate.  Golobo not only raced both events
last weekend, he won them!

Golobo faced Ross Stomp in the final round of NPS at the Pro
Series event (where our carburetors had 4 of the top five 
qualifiers).  

In the final it ended up being Golobo versus Stomp.   I couldn't 
be happier about that as I was tuning on both cars that weekend.
Rob had just received our latest design in NPS carburetors as
had Ross.  Both drivers just picked up their bullets from 
their engine builders (Mike Moran for Golobo and Midwest 
Engine Tech for Stomp).  So both combinations needed
some sorting out.  In the final however it was Golobo's 7.67
over Stomps 7.69 that grabbed top honors for Rob.

But Rob wasn't done yet.  He trekked over to the NSCA
event where our side had the Top 3 qualifying positions. 
Kevin Parent was #1 with Lukovich power Golobo was 
qualified #2 and Bruce Polous was #3.
 
Golobo made it to the final again and won it, doubling up in
NPS competition.  It was 90 degrees outside everyday and
the only thing more wore out than Rob (see photo) was their
tow vehicle.  Good job guys.

While we're still at the NSCA event, Randy Jewell was the #1
qualifier in Top Street setting a class E.T. record.  Oh, but it
doesn't stop there, in the heat of the day, in the final round, 
he reset the MPH Record and won the event!  That record
now stands at 203.56! Go Pro-Car!

Back to US 131.  Super Street was all Bryan Markiewicz
as Chris Nelson of Nelson Competition, Tampa, FL
(727-321-5756) who is apparently used to this heat,
showed his tuning prowess.  Bryans flamed yellow
Mustang qualified #1 stomping on all comers, easily winning
the final round traveling the quarter mile in 7.40 seconds at 
189 mph.

Pro Stock was another tough race as Jamie Stanton's
car was giving him some grief lately.  So we had a late
night pow-wow and made a list of everything that could
be causing the odd gremlin the car was experiencing.  
Then, we changed it all.  Everything.

Meanwhile, Jamie's toughest competitors, Engine builder
Chris Uratchko and Driver Butch Kemp came over to
the Pro Systems rig as they had a few ideas for improving
power in their program (that may have panned out) but
would've certainly been a gamble.  So they elected to stay
 the course and test the ideas at a later date. 

"Changing everything" worked for Jamie as he took the win 
 going 8.99 mph at 150 mph and Butch Kemp's less  
 aerodynamic Nova showed its power and was right there    
 at a 9.06 147.  

In SCCA Trans am competition, Randy Ruhlman uses one
of our 3 circuit Trans AM carburetors to control his
Preformed Line Products Corvette.  Randy is on a roll
and continues to lead the pack in the SCCA Trans AM series
points race.  

After walloping the wall during practice at the Cleveland event
this past weekend, it took 9 guys 18 hours to cut off the front
end of Randy's car and reweld a new chassis on the front 
of the Derhaag Motorsports car.  Wow!

After being required to start from the back of the field
as a result of this crash, Ruhlman then battled past all his
competitors in the sweltering heat to finish FIRST!   Randy 
has now won 2 out of the three events!


American GT competition is great road racing as well.

 
Edison Lluch loves the new series and he should as he made
a season opening sweep of the Carolina Motorsports
park event.  Edison used CRD power (704-792-1955)
and our 3 circuit Trans am carburetor to qualify number one
and win both the first and second race.  Edison now leads
the points in this exciting class and he couldn't be happier.
